As many of you are already aware, Tropical Storm Gustav is projected to become a hurricane and make landfall near us. New Orleans appears to be the target at the moment. The Governor has declared a state of emergency and is having residents prepare to evacuate New Orleans.
Our Mission President has begun preparations to have the missionaries evacuate on Friday morning - if Gustav is still heading towards Louisiana. We will be evacuating to Baton Rouge to the Mission Home. The younger missionaries will be evacuating at the same time and stay in the northern part of the mission with other missionaries already
living up there.
We know that you all will want to get the most current information and we may be on the road for many hours. Katrina evacuation times ranged from 8-24 hours to get from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and cell phone coverage is pretty poor. Texting is the best option during and after the storm.

We will make every effort to stay in contact with all of you. If for some reason we have difficulty communicating we have designated Leslie and Cass to keep everyone updated on our status and location in the event of a second evacuation away from Baton Rouge.

We love you all and we're so grateful for all of the wonderful blessings we've been given, especially for the opportunity to serve a mission together. This is just another "adventure" on our miracle mission. We can only imagine what another year in the mission field will bring for us.

You guys are in my prayers! My grandparents who live in Houma, have evacuated to Memphis luckily. My grandpa rarely leaves for these but they convinced him thank goodness! You will have lots of work spreading the gospel when you make it back to the "Big Easy" :)
