2008 Will Be Great!!!

This has been a great couple of weeks.  We were able to talk to ALL of our children on Christmas Day. It was especially nice to talk to Brent, who is serving a Spanish speaking mission in North Carolina. He was pretty funny, talking to me in spanish for a couple of minutes. I finally asked him in English who it was, and he started laughing. You know that funny, He-He laugh he does. It was great to share and compare missionary experiences. We are so glad he has a great Mission President.
This past week we had our big Bishop's Breakfast with all ten of the missionaries from our ward. We went over all of their investigators and all of the recent converts. Needless to say, it was very informative. We learned about a couple of undesirable situations that our recent converts are in. Our Bishop does such a good job of teaching the missionaries about missionary work and hope they will remember his words when they get off their missions.
We spent some time with President and Sister Ortiz on New Year's Eve. President Ortiz is in the Mission Presidency and serves as a High Council member as well. Having two heaving callings doesn't seem to phase him. He is constantly on the go. His wife serves as the Stake Relief Society President. We love them and appreciate their never ending service to the missionary effort.
We did get in to Rocio this week. She's got the stomach flu, but she was so grateful for our visit. We invited her to attend the fireside this coming week with Elder Neuenschwander and Stake Conference next weekend. I've grown very close to her and hope that she will feel that love that we have for her.
One of the highlights of our week was a fireside that we attended Saturday night. Sister (Sergeant) Jill Stevens, the current Ms. Utah came to our Stake Center. She gave a fabulous fireside and great testimony of her service in the Army National Guard. She was stationed in Afghanistan a couple of years ago. If anyone out there is looking for a great speaker for the youth. She is great. She used a slideshow presentation, music and touched our hearts. We both generally don't appreciate "beauty pageants". But her story is incredible and her testimony is one that touches the lives of both young men and young women.
We are so grateful to all of you have called or written to us.  We love you, pray for you and think of you often.  May you be blessed with the righteous desires of your hearts.
