What a Week

So last week was probably one of the busiest we've had (other than our Gustav week). Here's a run down.

We had a super busy Monday with doctor's appointments, shopping and a couple of visits.

Tuesday the Elders called and asked us to drive for their Zone Preparation Day. So we drove them to the Aquarium and enjoyed that with them. We met a cute couple from Idaho that came to New Orleans to adopt a baby. It was a lot of fun. Zone Preparation Day is the day before transfers and the missionaries try to go to a local tourist attraction together, some of them will be leaving the area and may not return during their mission.

Wednesday, was our Temple Day. The Armstrongs (senior couple from California) always come over at about 2pm then we drive to Baton Rouge and have dinner before going to the Temple. This is a special Temple session with only the senior couples and the departing missionaries in it. It's always nice to see our missionaries before they go home. Some of these missionaries we've worked with very closely. Like this transfer, Elder Harrington and Elder Shepherd went home. Elder Shepherd was the missionary that went with us while we were teaching Sandra Mejia. He also has been in our Spanish ward for many months.

Thursday, we got new missionaries in our ward. Two sisters!! Yippee!! We were very excited, Sister Dalley is from Idaho and Sister Martin is from France. Yep, Don is in heaven. He finally gets to speak to someone in French. Whenever we have to call them or they call us, he's talking in French. It really comes easy for him. We spent some time with them Thursday afternoon, reviewing the ward. That night we had an awesome Ward Missionary Meeting. This ward is so pro-missionary work and trying to do all it can to promote the member missionary work.

Friday, was our Senior Couple Plantation Tour day. We had a couple of other couples ride with us to the Plantations where we met the Mission President, as well as the other senior couples. It was a great day. We all enjoy being together and loved the opportunity to learn more about the history of the area. See Smilebox below for pictures. Afterwards, we went to eat at Fat Greg's. It was nice to introduce the owners, the Applings to all of our senior missionaries. Becky and Meghan came to Church on Sunday for the first time since we've been in the ward. We were so happy to see them.

Sunday, we got up early and made dinner for ????. Yeah, we didn't know who was coming for dinner. We just got it ready and decided to figure it out when we got to Church. So we got there and decided that it was time to have our District Leader over. They haven't been over to our apartment before. It was nice to have them in our home and we had a great lesson by Elder Thornell.

We are in another week, but just want to let everyone know that we have voted. Yes, we voted Yes on 8. Lucky for us, we voted absentee ballot.

Weekly Challenge: Make dinner before Church and then have a prayer before you go. Invite someone over for dinner. Invite a non-member, less-active, anyone. It's so much easier to just look for someone who might need an extra boost and invite them to your home.
